As well as working with maths leaders to raise standards, I also work with science and foundation subject middle leaders to develop their roles and responsibilities.
Some bespoke in-school support I offer includes:
- Design and delivery of INSET to develop pedagogy and subject knowledge to raise standards in teaching and learning mathematics.
- Subject leadership skills development – realising their vision and setting the scene to achieving high standards in a subject across the school.
- Use of data and assessment gaps analysis to devise action plans and identify intervention needs – pupil groups and weak learning areas.
- Monitoring and review – books, learning walks, pupil voice etc; creating school-specific curriculum documents.
- Maths assessment and moderation (within school or across school groups).
- Creation of Calculation Progression Policies
- Development of planning with year group teams/teaching staff, e.g. planning sequences of learning for maths, planning intervention programmes with LSAs and HLTAs.
- Work with teaching staff to revisit Assessment for Learning techniques alongside effective questioning to improve oracy and reasoning in mathematics and across the curriculum.
- Curriculum planning in line with the national curriculum, including devising school expectations for skills and content, curriculum non-negotiables and planning for cross-curricular links and curriculum ‘drop-down days’.
- Use of Lesson Study research lessons to improve pedagogy and practice (in any subject) through research lessons and pupil voice. Please see my CPD package for Lesson Study.
- Parent workshops to encourage and help parents/carers to support their child’s learning at home.
