Maths Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy Sessions

Shorter Training Sessions

Audience: Any teachers including ECTs; HLTAs; Intervention teachers.

These shorter sessions have been planned to enable schools to release teaching staff for crucial maths training without breaking the budget.

If you answer yes to any of the questions below then these sessions may provide the support you need.

  • Does your school struggle to release teachers for longer sessions but would still benefit from some maths training?
  • Does your school have a specific area of maths or pedagogy that needs developing?
  • Are you a teacher or an HLTA who would like some refreshers or inspiration for teaching these areas?

Facts in a
Memorable Way		 Considering these skills are vital to mathematical
achievement and success, this is an area that too often
does not receive enough dedicated curriculum time. This
session will provide ideas and activities to ensure number
facts can be efficiently retrieved from the working
memory to allow new learning without cognitive overload.		 Wed. 26.11.25

Effective Use of
Resources to
Stretch and
Challenge More
Able Pupils 		Resources are too often seen as only for use in the early
stages of a teaching unit or, in the words of some higher
attaining pupils, “for those that struggle”. This session will
use resources for problem-solving and reasoning to ensure
even the most able pupils get to struggle, think more
deeply and achieve the satisfaction of real success.		 Wed. 04.02.26

Other possible sessions may be arranged centrally, on request, e.g. Assessment for learning in mathematics; oracy in maths, LSA training, KS1/LKS2/UKS2 fractions, KS1/LKS2/UKS2 geometry, Year 6 algebra.
Bespoke training/INSETs may also be booked for individual schools or groups of schools.
